Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families have a role to play. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all coaches should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.
At Crewkerne RFC, all our coaches are DBS checked, have completed Play it Safe training as well as first-aid training specific to rugby, including contact. The well-being and happiness of our players is primary focus. Coaches, committee members, parents and volunteers within the club are clear on expectations and procedures for sharing/reporting any concerns relating to a child. Our Parent Representatives form a vital link between coach and families and also aware of key adults to contact should they have a concern.
If you have a concern about the welfare of a child, please contact Alex Rice or Kay Dawson, Safeguarding and Welfare Officers for the Junior Club.
